Canyon Lake Fishing Report

NOW OPEN!! The NEW Public Fishing Pier located at Boat Ramp #21 Potter's Creek Park West is now open to the public 24 hours. Parking is available next to the restrooms on the east end of the boat ramp parking lot.

Please Note: Due to declining water elevations, the following boat ramps remain open: #1 Canyon Lake Village, #6 Canyon Lake Hills 1 East, #12 Canyon Lake Yacht Club, #14 Jacobs Creek Park 1, #15 Jacobs Creek Park 2, #17 Little Jacobs Creek, #18 Canyon Park Campground, #19 Canyon Park Marina and #21 Potter's Creek Park West (outside). The courtesy boat docks at ramps #18, #20 and #21 are closed. The fishing pier at Cranes Mill Park is currently closed for repairs. For further updates, please call the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Canyon Lake office at 830-964-3342. Please boat safely and always remember to wear your life jacket!

Water Clarity: Clear Water Temp: 84 Current Level: 894.73 (Conservation Pool: 909.0 ft. msl)

Largemouth Bass: Good to 4 lbs. early on chrome/black Rebel Pop R or shad 3/8 oz. Revenge spinnerbaits and later on drop shot rigged black 4" Berkley sabertail worm or whacky rigged watermelon/red Grande Bass rattlesnakes on main lake and secondary points in 5-20 feet. Also good on watermelon magic Zoom super flukes or whacky rigged blue pearl hologram Zoom Z-nails upriver in 6-20 feet.

Smallmouth Bass: Good to 3 lbs. on green pumpkin 4" Berkley sabertail burly bugs, watermelon red Grande Bass mutants, watermelon red River2Sea Stand'n Yabbie 50 crawfish or brown orange 3/8 oz. River2Sea junk grenade jigs over rock piles and along bluffs in 8-12 feet.

White Bass: Good vertically jigging black shad or smelt 3" Berkley Gulp! minnows on a 1/8 oz. jig head and trolling Texas shad Luhr-Jenson Baby Hot Lips Express on main lake points.

Crappie: Fair on black shad 2.5" Berkley Gulp! minnows or chartreuse Curb's crappie jigs around brush piles and submerged trees off main lake points and upriver in 4-10 feet.

Striped Bass: Fair trolling chartreuse/green 3/4 oz. Luhr-Jensen Hot Lips Troller or ghost bass Strike Pro flex phantoms, vertically jigging chartreuse/silver 1-1/2 oz. Terminator pirk minnows or perch Bagley jigging minnows on main lake points and drifting hybrid bluegill or comets around the dam in 15-20 feet.

Perch: Fair on live crickets or red worms.

Channel Catfish: Good on Lewis Selects catfish bait and shad gizzards in 6-20 feet.

Blue and Yellow Catfish: Excellent on trotlines and juglines baited with hybrid bluegills or comets in 10-30 feet.
