THE SOUTHERN FISHING REPORT

LAKE ALLATOONA IS FULL, CLEAR AND 91 DEGREES

Bass fishing is fair and early it is best to fish the steep rock banks with a Pop R or a Bonnie 95 in a shad color. As the sun starts to rise, find any shade and you can pick up a few extra top water fish. Mid morning and throughout the day fish deeper docks with a Shaky Head or a Slider Head. Use a Green Weenie Robo Worm or 4" Shaky Worm in Green Pumpkin. Another option would be to fish points with a deep running crank bait. Fish a DD22 in Tropical Shad or the Bandit 700 in Summer Shad. Use a Deep Little N or 300 Bandit also. In the evening, fishing around brush seems to be the best bet. Throw a Texas Rig Net Bait T-Mac Worm a 1/2 ounce Davis Jig. Fish slowly and thoroughly to get bites. After dark, fish around any rocky banks on the main lake. Throw a Nite Bite Spinner bait or a Deep Little N crank bait in midnight blue. Fish parallel to these banks. New web site www.gafishing.org.

Line side fishing is great this week for numbers and we have been catching most of our fish on down lines. Live bait fished on down lines 19 to 30 feet deep is the key to loading the boat There is still a decent top water bite right at sun up and then again at sun down. Most of the fish are in the mid-lake section to the south, from Galts Ferry to the 75 bridge, and we have been catching a lot of fish within sight of the dam this week. The mouth of Stamp Creek has been good, Coopers Branch is good at sunup, the Allatoona Creek arm and Tanyard Creek are all producing good right now. You can flat line at sunup, but you're better off throwing a Sammy and or Fluke because it's only a 15 minute window to catch them on top, then it's time for down rods. After the sun gets up good, go to your umbrella rigs. Pull your rigs 130 feet behind the boat at 2.4 miles and hour. The key is a loaded Mack Farr umbrella rig with nine ½ ounce jigs. We still have days open for Aug. Give me a call at 770 827-6282 for availability.
