LAKE HARTWELL IS DOWN 2.1 FEET, 63 DEGREES, CLEAR BY TIM WHITE - RAPALA PRO STAFF

Bass fishing was a little slow during the days last week primarily due to the full moon. Lake levels remain good and the water will warm up fast as the sun comes over the tree tops. Usually the water warms up into the upper 60's by the afternoon hours. The numbers on the bass were off a little last week and anglers were reporting a slower and softer than normal bite. As my phone rings off the hook, I remind everyone to slow down their presentation and work their baits slower than normal. As the moon wanes over the next week or so you will notice a difference in how aggressive the fish will become. Good baits to use this week will include number ten X-Raps in either the olive green or moss back shiner colors, Shad Raps in the shad pattern, clackin' raps and jigs or spot removers in the 1/8 to 1/4 ounce size. Anglers are saying the 1/8 ounce jigs are catching more fish, but you have to let them have it longer than normal. Jerk baits are working on the points, especially the rocky ones. If you plan on ordering the Lake Hartwell Fishing Guide this fall, please allow two weeks for processing. They will be shipped out as the orders come in. Requests are heavy this time of the year through Christmas, so order early.
