THE SOUTHERN FISHING REPORT

LAKE HARTWELL IS DOWN 1.8 FEET, HIGH 40’S

Bass fishing is fair. Be looking for signs of bait fish and a variety of baits can work. This month think jig. Use a 1/4 ounce to 3/8 ounce Terminator finesse jig with a twin tail trailer. Rapala DT10 crank baits will work and have the Carolina rig ready. Main lake points and pockets will be best. Also work the mid creek boat docks near deep water. After mid morning, concentrate on docks and structure that is close to any point. The small and shorter points with rock and wood seem to be working the best. Texas and Carolina rigged worms are working as well as small jigs. The large jig and pig with a pork trailer are working worked slowly. Try the Rattle Skirt’s Twin Tail grub by Storm. Also try the Rattle grub in the four inch size. This bait is less bulky and seems to attract the numerous spots that roam the lake this time of year. Good colors to try are the smoke/red flake and the black/silver flake. Use a 1/4 ounce jig head and flip or cast these baits under docks and right into heavy cover.
