THE SOUTHERN FISHING REPORT

LAKE HARTWELL IS DOWN 10 FEET, CLEAR, 84 DEGREES BY TIM WHITE, RAPALA PRO STAFF

Bass fishing is slowing down as the heat of summer returns. A whole bunch of small Bass are being caught as anglers beat the shallower water with their four and six inch worms. The bigger and better Bass have moved out to the deeper water ledges and points. Basically anglers are using two methods to catch their fish during these conditions. A drop shot rig and Carolina rig are both responsible for the majority of Bass being caught. Down sizing to a four inch worm or lizard will get you a lot more bites. Also, tone down that line to either eight or ten pound test. I am even using as low as six pound test with a 1/8 ounce or smaller weight. The fish aren't all giants, but a 2 1/2 pound average is usually winning or placing in most of the tournaments. Scattered thunderstorms are in the forecast for the weekend through Monday so as always keep an eye on the sky.
