LAKE HARTWELL IS DOWN 4.3 FEET, 85 DEGREES AND CLEAR BY TIM WHITE RAPALA PRO STAFF

Bass fishing is holding steady with anglers weighing in around 8 to 10 pounds of fish on average during the night tournaments. There is a good bite occurring between 5:30 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. with the best bite occurring during the same times in the evening. Water temperatures will rise sharply into the high 80's and even lower 90's as the day progresses. Most anglers are keying in on structure, rocks, brush piles, in the deeper water. An occasional top water bite is still occurring early in the morning and after the sun passes behind the tree tops in the evenings. For the most part, anglers are relying on their Carolina Rigs and jigs to get the job done. A few good bass are still being caught on DT14's and DT16's along the rocky ledges. Deep water boat docks continue to hold some bass and a 1/4 to 3/8 ounce jig or fluke will work here. Remember, the first good chance of rain in three weeks is in the forecast for this weekend. Some of these storms can be nasty, especially on the South Carolina side. Be prepared for possible bad weather and have a safe place close by in mind in case you have to get off of the water.
