THE SOUTHERN FISHING REPORT
by Ken Sturdivant

November 6, 2009

LAKE SEMINOLE IS FULL, 70 DEGREES, THE FLINT IS STAINED, THE CHATTACHOOCHEE IS MUDDY AND SPRING CREEK IS CLEAR AND 80 DEGREES

Bass fishing is good and the shad are starting find their way into shallow water on flats and backwater pockets off of the main river. The shallow cranking bite is starting to pick up. Fish a Spro Little John in the new nasty shad color over grass flats on the main lake. Ripping the bait through the grass draws more strikes. Another good pattern for this time of year is to flip shallow grass and hyacinths in the backwaters of both rivers. Use a 1 ounce Tru Tungsten lead pegged with a 5/0 straight shank Gamakatsu hook. Make sure to use a heavy action flipping rod to pull the bass out of the thick cover such as a Falcon 7'6" Lowrider Heavy Action flipping stick. As the water temperatures continue to fall and the grass continues to die, expect the trap bite to pick up all over the lake.
