THE SOUTHERN FISHING REPORT

March 12, 2010

LAKE SEMINOLE IS DOWN .6 FEET, 53 DEGREES, STAINED BY MATT BATY

Bass fishing is slow and there is a lot of water on the way. Fish are still being caught near their spawning areas, such as the sandbars in Spring Creek and Fish Pond Drain. Fish the ditches and deep water ponds that are near sand. Use a crank bait such as a Spro Little John DD in Cell Mate color on fluorocarbon line and a good cranking rod like a 7' Falcon Bucoo crank bait Rod. Use the crank bait to find a school of fish, and when they slow down on the crank bait bite, switch to a Carolina rig with a 6" Big Bite Baits Kriet Kreature in Green Pumpkin Red. Make sure you use a big hook like a Gamakatsu 5/0 offset shank. This is a big bait. The bass are ready to spawn, as some reports of bedding bass have been seen on the lake this week. When the weather warms and gets more stable, expect to see a major spawn. When bass move up on the beds, there is no better bait to catch a bedding bass than a white 3" Big Bite Baits Fighting Frog. Bass will absolutely inhale this bait almost every time it hits a bed.

The Fish and Game Forecaster has good feeding periods from 10am until 1pm Saturday and 11am until 2 pm Sunday. Get your own copy from our web site.
