THE SOUTHERN FISHING REPORT

LAKE SEMINOLE IS FULL, 62 DEGREES, MUDDY AND FAST LAKE WIDE

Bass fishing is fair. With the recent rains, the water is moving and is muddy. This actually helps turn on the bite on grass flats. The main lake grass flats have been doing pretty well, especially the ones near the Tractor Bank and Carl's pass. Fish a SPRO Aruku Shad75 in Gold/Black or Purple Rain color. The best flats have 5 to 6 feet of water with submerged milfoil and hydrilla. Flats with 10 to 12 foot ditches close by are magical spots. Fish the SPRO with a steady retrieve and rip it free from the grass when you feel it tick the hydrilla. If this bite slows, fish these same areas with a Big Bite Baits 6" Kreit Tail worm in Junebug. Texas rig the bait with a 5/16 ounce Tru-Tungsten sinker in unpainted color. The unpainted Tru Tungsten is very shiny because of the Dura-Seal finish that they use to coat their sinkers. Use a 5/0 Gamakatsu offset shank hook for this worm. The Big Bite Kriet Tail worm has a hook slot that is perfect for hook sets. The worm bite can feel super subtle, so make sure you use a good sensitive rod such as a Falcon 7'3" Cara T7 Amistad Special. Also reach for some Gamma Edge Fluorocarbon 20 lb. test.
