Fishing Report
Summer
Fishing can be brutal but you don't need to stop fishing completly,
just set the alarm so you can be on the water a little earlier
or just wait till the evening. After 11 o'clock it gets so
hot its not very comfortable to be out there. The best bite
is the first couple hours of the day and the last couple hours
anyway. I had several trips this past week, we caught over 20
fish before 9am, then the bite got tough, we did manage to catch
fish after the morning bite but it was slow. The best areas are
the mid lake bar out in front of the big red house using junebug
zoom trick worms on shaky heads or Texas rigs with light wights.
if the wind is blowing a terminator spinner bait will work. The
north cove also has fish around the mouth you can catch those
on shaky heads also. if you get out in the evening the mouth
of the south outfall canal has schooler's just befor dark, you
can catch those on small top water plugs or small jigs. The brush
piles are starting to produce better fish but if you don't have
the GPS numbers they are difficult to find. The main lake points
all have some fish holding on them,a Carolina rig works good
on all the points. Big Dolly bay also has some fish, slow worm
fishing along the drop and grass is working best. The park has
some fish but they are not very predictable this time of the
year. I have started taking only half day guide trips this time
of the year. I go out from 6 till 11 then get off the water.
The evening trips are a little shorter from 5 till about 9. If
you would like to book a trip give me a call or send me an e-mail.
