Hey All:
Kevin Phelps with BustinBass with
the Bass report on the lower Potomac River! Dropped in at
first light (Leesylvania) and headed south to catch the last
hour of an outgoing tide!!!! Our first stop was a main
river grass bed which continues to be the ticket for the
dog days of summer!! Early am patterns produced fish
utilizing buzzbaits, frogs and other top water lures over
and around the grass mats. Creeks also produced a good
number of fish as long as the grass was separated to allow
the direct current into the creek!! As the day progressed,
and with the tide returning, flukes, shallow running crank
baits and spinner baits (WhopBass) were the most productive
lures. Bright colored swim baits around
the grass edges also produced a good number of fish (catching
the theme of where to fish these days)! Water
quality was especially good due to the amount of grass on
the river, but stained water areas around the mats seemed
to be more productive! We landed numerous fish in the
two to three pound range with two of our fish going over
four.
