Old
Hickory Lake 03-07-2008

I
made it to the lake today before the snow started flying. I just
wanted to get out and check the water temp and a few places on the
lake. It was 41 degrees launching the boat and dropped to 35, by
the time I came home. The main channel held 48 degrees. The steam
plant area was in the low 60’s. If we could get some consistent
warm weather these fish would move up. The fish are ready, but the
global warming trend has not started here yet. Either way, Spring
is coming and there will be some good ones to catch this season.
In the mean time watch your water temperature, once we get some
consistent mid 50 degree water these fish will go crazy. Here are
a few pictures of what Marty and I caught today. I just wanted to
slip in this picture from Percy Priest last week. The water temperature
there has been between the low 40’s and mid 50’s. The
fish have moved pretty shallow although the cold weather keeps many
more from committing to shallow. Once this weather gets straight
you will see many more good fish like this one, getting caught.
This is my buddy James in the picture with the best fish of the
day.
