St
Johns River November 12, 2009
I'm
back from my Deer hunting trip to Ohio and things picked up right where
they left off as far as the fishing. We were greeted this morning
with 20 to 25 MPH NW Winds and a lite rain as a cold front moved
through. My clients Father and Son Pat and Mat from WV were cold
before we left the dock. First stop produced a Catfish and a
Gar. We moved on to the second spot and not a single bite, third
spot we hit pay dirt and Mat put the first bass in the boat and
what a bass weighing 10 LBS this was the first Bass Matt has
ever caught as he has mostly saltwater fished Matt then caught
3 more Bass weighing between 3 and 5 pounds Dad came through
at the end with a 3 pounder. The fish were not biting very well
all day as they were hitting the shiners but just not eating
them. We
were limited to where we could fish with the strong NW winds but
made the best of a full day of fishing. Large Wild Shiners fished
around main river grass mats were the key. Thanks Pat and Matt for
a fun but cold day on the water. The water temps have dropped down
into the mid 60"s
and the fishing should only get better each day.
St
Johns River - October 30, 2009

The
bass fishing in general has not been great the past week. This
is due to record high air temps again and the water warming up
quick after our last cold front. The good part of this report is
the bites we are getting are nice fish up to 9 pounds. Father and
son Dave and Jeff Anderson joined me the past two days and
only 9 fish were caught during 10 hrs of fishing time but when
you catch 9 fish that weigh over 50 pounds with a 9 LB and 8LB
big fish each day it's not that bad of a trip. The weather really
needs to cool the water temp down into the low to mid 70's in order
for these fish to get active. We have been fishing the Lemon Bluff
area of the St Johns the past couple days. The fish are under floating
grass mats in the main river. I will be in Ohio Deer hunting From
Nov 1st through the 10th and when I return I do have days open
in Nov and Dec.Jan Feb Mar are booking up quick for the spawn.
My wife Jackie will be answering my emails the next 10 days Jackie
can book your trips for you or you can try my cell phone in the

St Johns River and Lake Monroe
- October 23, 2009
The
water temps have dropped 18 degrees in the past 9 days. This
morning I was seeing 69.1 at daylight, and 72 degrees at 11:00
am which is much better than the 86 to 88 degree water a week
ago. These lower temps will get the river fish biting and the
shad finally moving. I had the pleasure of fishing with young
Kade, his Mom Deb, and their friend Bob this morning. The fish
were trying to bite but still seem to want to bang the shiners
around more then eat them. This was Kades first bass fishing
trip and he took advantage of every bite catching 3 nice bass
between 2 1/2 and 4 1/2 pounds. If we can keep some stable weather
around and not get crazy hot again, we will see a big change
in the fishing the next couple weeks. Free lining wild shiners
on main river shellbeds was the ticket for us today.
The St Johns River
is only minutes from Orlando Disney World and Daytona Beach.
